Cello App Free Cello Tuner & Lessons for Adult Beginners
A cello app with a free C–G–D–A tuner, a four-level course you can see from day one, and microphone feedback that leaves an unclear take unscored.
Tune C, G, D and A. Then hear the honest answer.
Tuning, listening and grading run on your device, and your audio is not uploaded. No account, no ads. Cello support · Privacy · Terms of Use
Built for adult beginners, returning players and advancing students. Soloist Cello tunes the real cello strings, C2, G2, D3 and A3, for free, then walks a visible four-level path from open strings and first position through scales, shifting, upper positions and tenor and treble clef. When the microphone cannot hear you clearly, the take is not scored rather than marked with a wrong note.
A free C–G–D–A cello tuner
Tunes C2, G2, D3 and A3 with an adjustable A4 reference and a sustained drone on the string you pick. Free, with no account.
A four-level course you can see
The whole Learn path is visible from day one: open strings and first position, scales, shifting, upper positions, tenor and treble clef, and a public-domain movement-opening study.
Feedback that tells the truth
A mic check and live level meter before you play. Confidence gating leaves unclear audio ungraded instead of inventing a wrong note.
Built for the cello's low register
Low-register handling suppresses common C2–G2 octave errors on the low strings.
A per-note intonation heatmap
After a take, see in cents where each note ran flat, centred or sharp.
Practice Orchestra
392 harmony-only play-along charts with tempo control, looping and a bleed-safe count-in.
Tenor and treble clef lab
Note-reading drills for the clefs cellists meet as the music climbs, starting from middle C on the tenor clef's fourth line.
Three steps to cleaner intonation
Tune and check the mic.
Tune C, G, D and A with the free tuner, then run the mic check so the level meter shows the app can hear you.
Play the lesson line.
Play along in bass clef, then in tenor and treble clef as the course climbs.
Read the honest result.
A clearly heard take gets pitch and timing feedback and a per-note heatmap. An unclear take is not scored, so try again a little closer to the mic.
Real screens. Real practice.

Questions
Is there a free cello tuner app?
Yes. Soloist Cello's C–G–D–A tuner and practice drones are free, with no account and no ads. It reads the cello's real register, C2 to A3, and lets you set the A4 reference.
How do I tune a cello?
From lowest to highest the strings are C, G, D and A. Tune A first, then D, G and C, using the fine tuners for small changes and the pegs only for big ones. Our step-by-step guide covers pegs, fine tuners and checking fifths by ear.
Can an adult beginner learn cello with an app?
An app can structure your practice and tell you honestly where your intonation drifts. It cannot see your bow hold or posture, so many adult beginners pair it with a few lessons from a teacher.
Does it guess when the room is noisy?
No. A mic check and level meter help you set up, and when a take is not heard clearly it is left ungraded rather than scored with a wrong note.
Does it teach tenor clef?
Yes. The course reaches tenor and treble clef, and the tuner includes a tenor and treble clef lab for note-reading drills.
Does my audio leave my iPhone?
Tuning, listening and grading run on your device, and imported songs are turned into practice on your device without uploading your audio. No account is needed. Soloist Coach, the optional practice chat, asks your permission before it sends the messages you type to a third-party AI service, and you can withdraw that in Settings.
