Kalimba Studio: Tuner & Tabs Learn by Numbers

Kalimba Studio hears one clear microphone pluck at a time — and knows when not to guess. Wait Mode abstains on unclear sound; Play Along scores touch-based tine choice and timing.

Rhythm-true tabs, clear-pluck listening, and a free cents tuner.

Microphone pitch evidence is processed on your device and audio is not uploaded. No ads or tracking SDKs. Account-backed practice guidance is optional.

Choose an 8-, 10-, 15-, 17-, or 21-key board, tune it, then practise rhythm-true number tabs. Wait Mode advances after one clear pluck and abstains when the sound is uncertain; Play Along scores touch-based tine choice and timing. Lesson fitting preserves the melodic contour, and pieces that cannot fit the chosen board are named as unavailable.

One clear pluck — or no verdict

Wait Mode confidence-gates the microphone. If noise or overtones make the note unclear, it asks for another pluck instead of marking a wrong tine.

A free cents tuner and care guide

See each clean cents estimate, then get adjustment guidance only after five readings agree; the buzz-care guide stays free.

Rhythm tabs fitted to your board

Hear the rhythm, adjust tempo, loop a section, and fit lessons across 8, 10, 15, 17, and 21 keys without hiding pieces that do not fit.

A usable free path

Three graded lessons, the rhythm-aware tab maker, three saved tabs, and one PNG + PDF export are available without subscribing.

Two practice modes, with the evidence kept separate

  1. Wait for one clear pluck.

In Wait Mode, pluck one tine. The microphone listens for a stable fundamental; if noise or overtones make it uncertain, the app says it could not hear clearly and does not advance.

  2. Practise rhythm by touch.

In Play Along, tap the on-screen tine. The result describes tine choice and timing, not microphone pitch accuracy.

  3. Tune from stable evidence.

The free cents tuner shows clean pitch estimates, but requires five agreeing readings before verifying a tine or recommending movement. A care guide covers common buzzes.

Questions

What stays free?

The cents tuner, five-reading stability check, tine-care guide, zigzag drill, three graded lessons, three saved tabs, and one PNG + PDF export stay available without a subscription.

Which kalimbas are supported?

Choose an 8-, 10-, 15-, 17-, or 21-key board. Lesson fitting preserves melodic contour where possible and explicitly marks a piece unavailable when it cannot fit honestly.

What is the difference between Wait Mode and Play Along?

Wait Mode uses the microphone for one clear pluck at a time and abstains when the evidence is unclear. Play Along is a touch drill that scores tine choice and timing; it does not claim to microphone-grade pitch.

What happens to microphone audio?

Pitch evidence is processed on your device and audio is not uploaded. There are no ads or tracking SDKs; account-backed practice guidance is optional.
