Guitar App Learn Guitar with Honest Note-by-Note Grading
Soloist Guitar grades the notes it clearly hears, on-device, and says so when it could not hear you. No ads, no account needed to start, and practice audio is never uploaded.
Hear a song, get chords and tab, then play it with feedback that won't flatter you.
Listening, grading and song import run on your device, and practice audio is never uploaded. No ads, no third-party trackers, no account needed to start.
Soloist listens through your device's microphone and tells you the truth: the notes it clearly heard, the ones that missed on pitch or timing, and the takes where the room was too noisy to be sure. Bring a short recording, play a riff or hum an idea, and it drafts chords and playable tab on your device.
Honest note-by-note grading
“Heard 32 of 33 notes” is a real count from your mic. Uncertain notes stay neutral, and when the room is too noisy to judge, it asks you to try again instead of guessing.
Hear a song, get chords & tab
Import a short audio file, play into the mic or hum. Soloist drafts chords and playable tab on-device, then opens them in graded practice. Three imports a month are free.
A course that goes somewhere
From Foundations and first chords through Barre Camp, lead and scales, CAGED and triads, plus 259 graded song lessons and 430 play-along charts.
How honest grading works
Listen.
Play along and Soloist Guitar hears your take through the microphone. Listening, grading and song import all run on your device; captured audio is never uploaded.
Measure.
Each note is checked for pitch and timing against the tab. While you are graded the target melody stays silent, so the app never grades its own speaker.
Report.
Notes it confidently heard light up, uncertain ones stay neutral, and your stars come from a careful offline read. One tap then loops your roughest bar.
Real screens. Real practice.

Questions
Is Soloist Guitar free?
Yes — lessons, the tuner and three song imports a month are free. Soloist Pro unlocks the full course, unlimited imports and every playstyle.
Can I pay once instead of subscribing?
Yes. Pay once with Soloist Pro Lifetime: US$19.99, one purchase, no renewals, and it comes first in the app's Pro screen. Prefer a plan? Monthly is US$9.99 and yearly US$59.99, and eligible new subscribers may see a 7-day trial. Prices are shown by the App Store before you confirm.
Why do my guitar chords buzz?
Usually a fretting finger sits too far from the fret wire, lies flat against a neighbouring string, or the strum is harder than the string can take. Play the chord one string at a time to find the culprit; if an open string buzzes too, the guitar may need a setup. Our buzz guide walks through each cause.
Can Soloist Guitar work out the chords of a song?
It drafts them for short clips: import an audio file you own, play into the microphone or hum, and it writes chords and playable tab on your device. Treat the result as a first draft and check it by ear.
Is there a left-handed mode?
Yes. Tab, the fretboard and chord diagrams all mirror for left-handed players.
Does my practice audio get uploaded?
No. Listening, grading and song import run on your device, and captured audio is never uploaded.
Does it work for acoustic and electric?
Both. Clean electric and acoustic guitars grade best; play in a quiet room within ~30cm of your device.
