Start with the full free tuner: inner-D and outer-A auto-detection, six xianfa key systems, and A4 calibration from 428 to 452 Hz. Pro adds a structured 98-lesson English jianpu course, 3 source-verified public-domain arrangements, 95 original erhu studies, 392 accompaniment-only practice charts, digital finger marks, and clear-signal feedback for intonation, huayin, and rouxian.

A complete Erhu tuner, free

Auto-detect inner D or outer A, practise all six xianfa systems, calibrate A4 from 428–452 Hz, or listen to a reference tone.

98 structured English jianpu lessons

Learn positions 1–3, bow control, and all six key systems, then practise 3 source-verified public-domain arrangements and 95 original erhu studies with 392 accompaniment-only practice charts.

Direction, not a red wrong note

See how many cents a note drifted and which way to adjust; digital finger marks, huayin landings, and rouxian rate and depth make the next attempt specific.

How Soloist Erhu turns a rough note into a useful next step

  1. Tune.

Choose a xianfa key system, match inner D or outer A, and set the same A4 reference as your teacher or ensemble. The full tuner remains free.

  2. Play.

Read the jianpu line and play into the microphone. Pitch-contour analysis runs on your device; your recording is not uploaded.

  3. Adjust.

A clear take shows cents sharp or flat, an approximate finger-mark correction, and — in technique lessons — whether a slide landed and a vibrato stayed centred. An unclear take stays ungraded.

Next release preview. This page describes the next Soloist Erhu update. The App Store may still deliver version 1.0.1 while Apple reviews the new course, tuner, and feedback tools.

Free charts, guides & references

The reference material behind the lessons, published free — interactive on this site, printable for the music stand.

Graded arrangements, studies & jianpu

3 source-verified public-domain arrangements and 95 original erhu studies with readable jianpu — including explicitly labelled excerpts where the release catalog supplies an excerpt. The separate 392 original practice charts are accompaniment-only and do not become per-song pages.

Questions

What can I use without paying?

The complete Erhu tuner stays free: inner-D and outer-A auto-detection, six xianfa keys, A4 calibration from 428–452 Hz, reference tones, and mic-noise handling.

What does Soloist Pro cost?

In the United States, Soloist Erhu Pro is US$9.99 monthly or US$59.99 yearly. Both plans include a one-week introductory free trial for eligible new subscribers; Apple shows regional pricing and eligibility before purchase.

Does it teach jianpu and erhu positions?

Yes. The structured 98-lesson English jianpu course begins with D–A tuning and first position, then covers positions 2–3, all six xianfa systems, huayin, and rouxian. A separate catalog supplies 3 source-verified public-domain arrangements and 95 original erhu studies.

Does Soloist Erhu replace a human teacher?

No. It gives repeatable pitch, timing, slide, and vibrato evidence between lessons. A teacher is still the best person to correct posture, hand tension, bow contact, and tone in the room.
