Start from the flute you own. Soloist Bansuri asks for the pitch and octave of your middle Sa, then sets its tuner, tanpura and every pitch drill from it. Guided first-note coaching, a steady-tone drill, a sur check and a daily River Stones crossing help you follow a short phrase in sargam, one held note at a time, on iPhone.

Cover the three holes nearest the blowing hole, then choose that note's pitch and octave. A flute's label can refer to a different fingering, so the app asks for the note itself.

Covered, open and half-covered holes, with guidance for supported registers. Half-holing still needs small adjustments by ear.

River Stones: a daily riyaz crossing
River Stones is a daily riyaz crossing. A river is a short palta; you hold each written swara steady until its stone settles, then step to the next. Results show how close each note was in cents and how long you held it. Silence, unclear sound or a wobble never places a stone. Four Sa–Pa rivers take turns, one per calendar day, and you can repeat the day's river. Bansuri Pro adds eight more: alankars, komal and tivra swaras, and two laya rivers for tempo.

How do I find middle Sa on my six-hole flute?
On a common six-hole bansuri, covering the three tone holes nearest the blowing hole gives middle Sa. Ask your maker which pitch and octave their key label describes, then confirm the sounding note with a trusted tuner.
How do I choose a fingering chart for my flute?
Start with your maker's chart. Check which end is shown first, how it defines Sa and which register each fingering covers. Half-holing needs adjustment by ear, and high-register fingerings can vary by flute and player.
What is River Stones?
