Percy Montrose, 1884 — public domain.
How to practise this on piano
Read the grand staff the way your hands divide it: the top staff is your right hand, the bottom staff your left — always by hand, never by pitch. Oh My Darling, Clementine is in C; find the first note (C5) and anchor your right-hand thumb near it before you play anything. Learn the hands separately first: right hand alone until it grades clean, then the left alone, then together at half tempo — the app hears exactly which hand drifted, which is the thing your own ear glosses over.
Keep your eyes on the score, not the keys; your hands learn the geography faster than you expect. Set the metronome well under around 120 BPM and only raise it after two clean takes. When hands-together breaks down, don't start over — drop back to hands-separate for the one bar your take review marks, rebuild it, and splice it back in. By the numbers, this arrangement runs 38 right-hand notes over 15 left-hand notes across 15 bars, the right hand from G4 up to G5 and the left hand reaching down to G2 in 3/4 time.
