Partial Ladder Call on trumpet
The full melody, rendered as engraved treble-clef staff you can read on screen or print for the stand — free, and never truncated.
An original Playsoloist study, composed in-house as a practice piece — not a traditional tune and not implied to be one.
How to practise this on trumpet
The trumpet transposes, so read what you see: Partial Ladder Call is written for the B♭ trumpet, and your written C4 sounds a whole step lower as concert pitch — the guide audio and grading already account for that. Buzz the opening phrase on the mouthpiece alone first, then add the horn. Most missed notes on trumpet are wrong partials, not wrong valves: set the pitch with your air and let the valve combination follow.
Take the piece at around 84 BPM and rest as often as you play — the lip tires faster than you expect, and tired practice teaches tension. Keep the air moving through the ends of phrases. When your take review marks a bar, slow that bar to half tempo and rebuild it until the attack speaks cleanly every time, then splice it back into the line. By the numbers, this setting runs 29 notes across 8 bars, from C4 up to G5 in 4/4 time.
